I wish to take this opportunity
to thank Rob Brown, who has served as President of PECCTAC,
for his endless support, hours of personal time, energy, and
commitment.
I have served PECCTAC for the past year as Vice-President,
and since Rob’s resignation, have fulfilled the role
as President. At the Annual General Meeting, to be held in
March 2006, we plan to recognize Rob’s contributions.
I am pleased to announce that the PECCTAC Board of Directors
has approved a motion to accept a 2 year contract which will
provide Visitors Information Services to Prince Edward County,
and includes the stocking of kiosks in Carrying Place and
Rossmore. Corporate Services and the Economic Development
Officer have supported the motion as well. If approved by
city council on December 19th, PECCTAC will receive $52,500
each year in 2006 and 2007 to provide Visitors Information
Services. More importantly, this funding over a 2 year period
will provide stability in our business planning process.
Our board has worked hard in finalizing this proposal and
is committed to working with Corporate Services and the EDO,
in order to address those business issues most pressing to
our community. Several initiatives are underway including
a new RFP Tourism Marketing Strategy for the next 3 years,
and a Tourism Alliance Group which includes all stakeholders
in providing Visitor Information Services. All these initiatives
are endorsed by the board as a very positive step towards
serving the business community.
